ANGELS FOR ALZHEIMER’S CURE is a volunteer group based out of Fairfield County, Connecticut. We are a grass roots organization from local communities that know the depth of the heartache of Alzheimer's disease first hand. Most have lost parents, siblings, relatives and friends to this horrific disease that destroys the one most precious gift meant to sustain us through our lifetime, our memory! By coming together, we have been effective in not only raising funds but also bringing awareness to the forefront; to offer a helping hand to those who didn't know where to turn, by encouraging new techniques and support to those who caregive!

Projections reflect a skyrocketing increase in the incidence of Alzheimer’s disease, as the 76 million baby boomers begin to turn 60. This is an opportunity for all of us related to Alz. afflicted family members, to raise awareness of the needs we experience every day so that they can be addressed. Whether it pertains to medical care, nursing facilities, or unfair Medicare regulations.

Of course these issues are not limited to only those living with Alz. afflicted family members.  As a responsible community member, each of us should become involved however best suit one’s means.  WE ARE THEIR VOICE!  Some suggestions might be..

1. Become an advocate for Alzheimer’s victims rights and needs by contacting your Senator and area Representative in support of favorable Alz. disease bills.
2. Don’t ignore subtle changes that may be ongoing with your loved ones. Bring those changes to the doctor’s attention. 
3. If you are experiencing uncomfortable changes (confusion with driving, forgetting where you are or not recognizing a close friend or family member for a few moments, or searching desperately for a word on more than a few occasions, etc) talk with your doctor about all the possibilities.  
4.  Include Alzheimer’s Assoc. Ct. Chapter on your yearly-designated contributions.
5.  Major Corporations, Private Business’s, Individuals, School Fundraisers, Neighborhoods, Community Organizations – consider partnering with Angels for Alzheimer’s Cure for fundraising events. Or organizing a fundraiser with your group
6. Call Alzheimer’s Association CT. Chapter for information if you have questions or concerns at 860-828-2828.  Or go to our “LINKS” and connect to www.alzct.org.   A representative will direct you to the proper person to speak to, or you can find pamphlets and other literature in reference to your needs.
7. If you are in need of evaluation for yourself or a loved one seek out a qualified, facility, hospital program etc. that can best serve you. In Connecticut, Greenwich Hospital, Center of Healthy Aging, Yale New Haven Hospital Clinical Care (see LINKS) www.greenhosp.org/medicalservices

9. Become an  “Angel’s for Alz. Cure” support member for $50 a year.  Your membership fee (which should be made payable to Alzheimer’s Assoc.CT. Chapter) will help our organization to continue to our work in fundraising, awareness raising and bring information in communities of on-going test programs and available testing programs in the future.
