“Earth Angels” earn their Halo’s at “Stars and Strides” Fundraising Event October 19th, 2008 at the Italian Center of Stamford Another fundraiser, another great effort, another wonderful success! The "ANGELS FOR ALZHEIMER'S CURE" Committee combined hard work and positive results giving months of their time creating a night not soon to be forgotten!
In 2005 a grassroots group of friends accepted the challenge of founder Angel Dazzo's vision of raising funds for Alzheimer's research and awareness in honor of her mom, Rose Cognetta, an Alzheimer's victim since 2000. They all said "Yes" - as did donors, merchants, entertainers, distributors, printers, graphic designers, the catering facility, etc..
With 240 attendees," Stars and Strides" additional support came from family and friends, Master of Ceremonies comedian Norm Crosby, honored guests Lt. Governor Michael and Mrs. Carol Fedele, key speakers Dr. Stephen Jones, Dir. of Healthy Aging, Greenwich Hospital and Dr. Robert Green, Dir.Boston U. Alzheimer's Disease Clinical Care Center. as well as Trish Clark, Dir. of Alzheimer's Assoc.CT. Chapter, and Atty. Gen. Richard Blumenthal. A personal video presentation by Leeza Gibbons to the Angels on behalf of their fundraising efforts enhanced the event.
The evening was highlighted with the drawing of the Grand Raffle 1st Prize, $10,000 winner, Mr. and Mrs. Josepeh Valentine and Live Auction winners of the Italy week for 2, Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Gaglio as well as the many happy winners of so many other auction and Memory Basket raffle winners!
Also annouced were the MVP "Angels for Alz. Cure" Volunteer winners, Louis Loglisci and Vin Rosa for their outstanding computer and technical support during the event preparation! The event memories were photographed throughout the night by Sami Wilson, a great grandaughter of Rose Cognetta, for everyone to enjoy for years to come!
We are grateful to have this opportunity to donate over $80,000 toward Alzheimer’s Research and Awareness ! Please go to Donate Link to find out ways we could all continue to help until a cure is discovered.

ANGELS FOR ALZ. CURE is very pleased to report that our first fundraiser, 'Sentimental Journey' to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter, held November 12, 2006 at the Italian Center on Newfield Avenue in Stamford, CT. was a beautiful success. Through the efforts of our 30 person team of dedicated workers, the key speaker, Dr. Stephen Jones, of Greenwich Hospital, our guest speaker, Atty. General Richard Blumenthal, our giving retail and service community, our devout afflicted family members and our caring and generous Sponsors, our event raised over $87,000 for the designated purpose of Alzheimer's research.
Together we CAN make Alzheimer's disease a "memory" of the past!!
April 2nd 2008 –8am at the Italian Center of Stamford, CT.
"Breakfast for Hope" was an opportunity to raise valuable awareness through community leaders, to thank past Donors for helping us surpass our goal at our 1st Alzheimer's 2006 event, 2007 research donations to date , and continue to appeal for funds to help put an end to this catastrophic disease through our future events with community support.
Dr. Robert C. Green, one of the nation's leading experts on Alzheimer's disease, and the Co-Chairman of Clinical Care for the Boston University Alz. Disease Center enlighten, update and inform us while guests enjoyed a wonderful morning meal sponsored by the Italian Center.

April 2nd, 2008 St. Leo’s Church, Stamford, CT. – sponsored by the St. Leo Senior’s 11am..
A public program was repeated with Dr. Green at St. Leo’s Church parish hall at 11 am..
Over 100 people attended and reinforced the need for more forums of this type to be offered to the community. The format was a mix of information with mostly Q & A time. The program time ran out much sooner than the questions did. We would like to continue such programs in the future. Attendees were family caregivers, off spring of Alz. afflicted family members, nurses from nursing homes and day care programs and senior centers.
